PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this symposium is to provide the participants with a comprehensive review of issues related to Sedation and Analgesia.  The first part of the program will encompass patient evaluation, basic airway management, pharmacological principles, pediatric considerations and monitoring. The day will finish with an expert panel for questions and discussion. The second half of the program will include discussions on the Joint Commission standards and their implications in patient safety, medicolegal considerations, and sedation credentialing. Breakout sessions will allow for learner’s participation in decision making around sample cases. Important safety issues will be discussed by the faculty throughout the symposium.

This course is specifically designed for physicians and nurses who provide sedation and analgesia for patients during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
