The New England Anesthesia Resident (NEAR) Conference 2024
Welcome all medical students, in-training, and attending anesthesiologists!
The Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists (MSA) and its Committee on Resident and Fellow Affairs (CORFA)/ Committee on Anesthesiology Students and Trainees (COAST) is honored to host the first relaunch of The New England Anesthesia Resident (NEAR) Conference since the COVID pandemic!
The NEAR Conference is back with an all new agenda, educational series, and speaker events! The conference will be held at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, September 14th, 2024.
We welcome all medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty from all New England anesthesia residency programs and medical schools.
In 2007, The NEAR Conference was established by Dr. Mark Hershey, the MSA president at the time, and Dr. Stephen Heard, Chairman of the Anesthesiology Department at UMass Medical Center. The hope was to create an annual conference hosted by different training programs in New England on a rotating basis and on April 7th, 2007 the first NEAR Conference was held at UMass with great success and attendance.
This year, The NEAR Conference has been reimagined and recreated by the MSA’s CORFA/COAST, along with the help of new partnerships, sponsors, and colleagues. Although we have several new offerings this year, the goals of the NEAR Conference remain the same - for medical students, residents, and fellows to have regional opportunities to present their scholarly work, to provide learning beyond the operating rooms, and to create a platform for connection and networking among peers, faculty, and employers.
